Creamy Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie | Vegan | Dairy-Free | Soy-Free | Gluten-Free

Peanut butter tastes good on about everything. Toast, oatmeal, burgers, fruit, vegetables, you name it, and it works. So I felt it was only right to utilize this magnificent ingredient in my refreshing Creamy Peanut Butter Banana smoothie.

A Smoothie A Day…

Starting your day with a smoothie is one of the easiest ways to get a ton of nutrients in your diet. Drinking food in liquid form acts like a “bullet train” and shuttles vitamins and minerals straight into the cells. It can do this because the blender does the stomachs job; breaking down the food.

Additionally, starting your day with a high dose of protein is ideal because it helps keep you feel full until your next meal and starts the muscle repair process.

Whether your goal is to lose weight or gain muscle, adequate protein intake accelerates this process. Make this Creamy Banana Peanut Butter smoothie recipe part of your regular breakfast routine to reap the results.

The Trick to Thick and Creamy Smoothies

I’ve always been amazed at how smoothie shops seem to nail the creaminess and thickness every time, no matter the ingredients. So I started experimenting with different ingredients to search for the solution.

The clear winner was adding ice. It helps thicken the mixture and is calorie-free. It couldn’t be more perfect!

However, crushed ice works best! Whole cubes that are made from standard ice makers are too large to crush in the blender. My Vitamix can pulverize everything else, but has a tough time crushing cubes.

So what happens if you don’t have access to crushed ice?
