homemade mediterranean hummus dip

Fall is officially here and that means a couple of things: pumpkin spice ‘errything, cool weather, football, and Homemade Mediterranean Hummus Dip!
Since this time of year usually consists of all kinds of parties, I wanted to share a delicious hummus recipe you could take to your next get together. A recipe that’s so tasty, you’ll be the star of the party!

Why Hummus Is The Best Party Snack
Let’s talk party snacks. Have you ever been to a party only to find a table full of pre-packaged dips, chips, and cold-cut party platters? Boringgggg.
Think about it; every time you get invited to a party, it’s your chance to make a great impression upon your guests. The food you decide to bring speaks to your character and your thoughtfulness (or lack thereof).
It’s your opportunity to create conversation and express your appreciation for good, wholesome food. Homemade hummus is the ideal party snack because of two things:
- It’s a dip; that means all the finger foods will go perfect with it
- The flavor will stand-out among every other store-bought product
All that’s required is a little forethought, a Tupperware storage container, and blender or food processor! Three simple steps to delicious Homemade Mediterranean Hummus.

Thick and Chunky or Smooth and Creamy?
Naturally, homemade hummus tends to be a little chunkier than store-bought hummus. Tahini usually helps make it creamier, however, it leaves the hummus a more bitter unless you also add oil.
Since tahini and hummus are both high-fat ingredients, it’s best to choose one or the other. After testing with both tahini and oil, I felt that extra virgin olive oil complimented the taste best.
You’ll notice that this hummus has more texture than commercial brands, so if that bothers you, then pulse in your food processor for a couple minutes to ensure adequate creaminess.

Be the Star of Your Next Party
This fall, opt-in for homemade snack recipes versus store brands. Start with an easy dip like this Homemade Mediterranean Hummus Dip and as your get more comfortable, try some Buffalo Tempeh Chik’n Tenders or Sweet and Spicy Sweet Potato Fries!
If you’re a creamy fan, you can also try my Thick and Creamy Vegan Ranch or Vegan Thousand Island Dressing.
Both make for great toppings for burgers, dressing for salads, or condiments for sandwiches.
Happy dipping!

ingredients :
2 16oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp minced garlic)
1 lemon, juiced
1/4 cup + 1 tbsp olive oil
1/3 – 1/2 cup vegetable broth*
1 tbsp fresh oregano, minced
2 tsp fresh basil, minced
1 tsp fresh dill, minced
1.5 tsp sea salt
notes :
*Start with 1/3 cup. If your hummus is too chunky, add in 1 tbsp at a time until desired consistency is reached. For your reference: 4 tbsp = 1/4 cup
This recipe is best for a large food processor. If you have a small one, simply cut the ingredients in half.
I highly recommend using fresh herbs versus dried herbs. If you have to use dried, place a small skillet over medium heat and toast herbs for 10-15 seconds or until fragrant.
directions :
